Citi trader Jay Glasser leaves Citi for Nomura-report

NEW YORK | Mon May 3, 2010 9:23pm EDT

NEW YORK May 3 (Reuters) - A top proprietary trader at Citigroup Inc (C.N), Jay Glasser, has quit to join Japanese brokerage Nomura Holdings Inc (8604.T), Bloomberg News reported on Monday.

Glasser, a specialist in derivative and currency trades tied to Japanese interest rates, began working at Nomura last week and is based in New York, Bloomberg reported, citing a Nomura spokesman.

Spokesmen for Nomura and Citi could not be immediately reached for comment.

Glasser told his former superiors at Citigroup that he was quitting in part out of concern that President Barack Obama's proposed Volcker rule could force U.S. banks to close proprietary-trading units, Bloomberg wrote, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
