(Reuters) - Britain's two biggest opposition parties said they made progress Monday at talks to reach a power-sharing deal after an inconclusive election that has left markets looking for a swift resolution to political deadlock.

Following are meetings scheduled for Monday and the timeline for the new parliament:

May 10

From 1200 GMT - Liberal Democrat parliamentarians were meeting party leader Nick Clegg. The Lib Dems have 57 members in the 650-seat parliament.

1600 GMT - Lib Dem Federal Executive scheduled to meet. The 35-person executive includes representatives of party members from across the country and spokespeople for its MPs and members of the upper house.

Any government deal would require the approval of a 3/4 majority of both the parliamentary party and federal executive.

1700 GMT - Conservative members of parliament meet for first time since election. Party won 306 seats in election, leaving it 20 seats short of a majority.

May 18 - Parliament will reconvene for the first time since the election. The initial sessions are procedural, with the commons electing a speaker and swearing in new members.

May 25 - The new government delivers its legislative agenda in the Queen's Speech.
