Chile cbank: data shows post-quake normalization

SANTIAGO | Wed May 12, 2010 6:18pm EDT

SANTIAGO May 12 (Reuters) - Chile's central bank said on Wednesday data in March and April showed domestic financial conditions were normalizing after a massive Feb. 27 earthquake, but said the disaster's impact on activity was bigger than anticipated.

The bank also said that market expectations leaned increasingly towards imminent normalization of the bank's key interest rate, which stands at an all time low of 0.5 percent.

The bank holds its next rate-setting meeting on Thursday, when it is seen holding the rate for a 10th month in a row. (Reporting by Antonio de la Jara, Simon Gardner, Fabian Cambero)
