ATHENS May 15 (Reuters) - Support for Greece's ruling socialists fell to 28.6 percent in May from 34.5 percent in March, an opinion poll published in Ethnos newspaper on Saturday said.

Support for the opposition conservative party fell to 19.1 percent from 23.2 percent over the same period.

Fifty-one percent of Greeks said last week's 110-billion euro ($140-billion) EU-IMF aid package was imperative for the country's financial rescue, the poll showed.

It also showed that the number of people who said they would cast an invalid ballot were there to be an election immediately stood at 20.6 percent. (Reporting by Angeliki Koutantou; Writing by Jon Hemming)
