Samsung says chairman Lee to meet Sony's Stringer

SEOUL May 17 (Reuters) - South Korea's Samsung Electronics said on Monday its reinstated chairman Lee Kun-hee would meet Sony (6758.T) CEO Howard Stringer on May 24 in Seoul, amid market talk they may discuss the LCD and 3D television sectors.

Samsung (005930.KS), the world's largest maker of memory chips and liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, is likely to discuss expanding LCD supply to Sony on the Japanese firm's request and also cooperating in the 3D television business, South Korea's eDaily reported.

Both Samsung and Sony declined to comment on the topics set for discussion.
