Brazil's May vehicle output up 6.6 pct from April

SAO PAULO, June 8 (Reuters) - Automobile output in Brazil rose 6.6 percent in May from the previous month, the national automakers' association Anfavea said on Tuesday.

Carmakers produced 309,600 units last month, with sales of 251,100 units, the association said. May output jumped 14.9 percent from a year earlier, it said.

Brazil, Latin America's largest economy, is a major market for Italy's Fiat SpA (FIA.MI), Germany's Volkswagen AG (VOWG.DE) and U.S.-based General Motors Co [GM.UL] and Ford Motor Co (F.N). (Reporting by Alberto Alerigi Jr; Writing by Elzio Barreto; Editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
