UPDATE 1-AT&T: iPad users information may have been exposed
* Potential exposure of iPad users' email addresses
* AT&T says problem has been fixed
SAN FRANCISCO, June 9 (Reuters) - AT&T Inc (T.N) said on Wednesday users of Apple's (AAPL.O) iPad may have had their personal information exposed through a network security flaw.
The breach, which was first reported by the website Gawker, led to the potential exposure of users' email addresses, AT&T said.
"This issue was escalated to the highest levels of the company and was corrected by Tuesday; and we have essentially turned off the feature that provided the email addresses," spokesman Mark Siegel said in an email statement.
Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
The iPad, which launched in April, has already sold more than 2 million units worldwide.
Gawker said it was informed of the breach and given a list of the email addresses by a group of hackers.
The report said more than 100,000 iPad user accounts may have been compromised.
AT&T said it was continuing to investigate and will inform all customers whose email addresses "may have been obtained."
AT&T said the group who discovered the flaw did not inform the company, which was alerted to the problem by an unidentified business customer. (Reporting by Gabriel Madway; Editing by Bernard Orr)
