Trade ideas: Strategists name buys, sells

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Buy, sell or hold?

Top Wall Street economists and investment strategists are putting U.S. stocks at the top of their shopping lists.

Speakers at the 2010 Reuters Investment Outlook Summit in New York this week also see values in Asian currencies and gold.

Here are some of most bullish and bearish investment recommendations from the Investment Outlook Summit:

Thomas Lee, chief U.S. equity strategist at JPMorgan Chase

Idea: BUY U.S. Stocks

U.S. equities may be a better bet than European shares, according to Lee, who sees the S&P 500 index rising roughly 20 percent by year end to about 1,300. He expects price-to-earnings multiples to move above 14, compared with about 12 now.

"I think you get the no-brainer to buy stocks for the next decade, unless you just thought we were going to have the world economy shrink," he said, "or if we're Japan."
