US Senate defeats move to stop EPA CO2 regulation

WASHINGTON, June 10 (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Thursday killed legislation that would have prevented the Environmental Protection Agency from imposing carbon dioxide-reduction controls on large factories and electric power companies next year.

In a procedural vote, the Senate blocked the bill offered by Alaska Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski. (Reporting by Richard Cowan and Timothy Gardner)
