HOUSTON, June 13 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) reported unplanned flaring at its 150,000 barrel per day (bpd) Los Angeles-area refinery in Torrance, California, on Saturday, according to a notice filed with California pollution regulators.

The filing did not say what malfunction triggered the refinery's safety flare system, which is used when production units are not functioning normally. (Reporting by Erwin Seba, editing by Maureen Bavdek)
