ST PETERSBURG, Russia, June 19 (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin on Saturday welcomed China's move towards greater flexibility of the yuan exchange rate.

"The recent declarations of the Chinese authorities on the yuan are encouraging," Sarkozy said during a visit to Russia.

"It will not affect us for now, although on the whole it is positive," Kudrin said. "It will not affect our trade significantly." (Reporting by Emanuel Jarry and Darya Korsunskaya; Writing by Toni Vorobyova)
