TowerJazz image sensors being used by Canesta

JERUSALEM, June 21 (Reuters) - Israeli chipmaker TowerJazz (TSEM.TA) said on Monday that Canesta Inc is using TowerJazz's CMOS image sensor technology to manufacture its CanestaVision 3D image sensors in a deal expected to significantly boost its revenue.

CanestaVision 3D image sensor chips are used in desktop computers, TVs and entertainment applications, TowerJazz (TSEM.O) said in a statement. [ID:nBw215608a]

A market source said that the deal would add $200-$300 million a year of revenue to TowerJazz starting at the end of 2011.

3D image sensors enable consumers to interact with devices and are expected to be widely deployed in a variety of markets including PC, consumer electronics and entertainment as well as many industry applications, among others, TowerJazz said. (Reporting by Steven Scheer; Editing by Louise Heavens)
