UPDATE 1-Vestas lands turbine contract with Capital Power
* Up to 287 turbines
* Units would generate up to 517 MW

CALGARY, Alberta, June 23 (Reuters) - Vestas Wind Systems (VWS.CO) will supply Capital Power Corp (CPX.TO) with up to 287 wind turbines for a series of power projects awaiting approvals in British Columbia and Ontario, Capital Power said on Wednesday.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
Denmark's Vestas will supply and maintain a total of 517 megawatts of turbine power for Capital Power's C$455 million ($433 million) Quality Wind Project in British Columbia, and for its C$340 million in projects in Ontario at Port Dover and Nanticoke, and at the Knightsbridge II development, Capital Power said.
The projects are expected to proceed after receiving provincial environmental and regulatory approvals. Knightsbridge II also requires the award of a feed-in-tariff power contract by the Ontario Power Authority.
Shares in Edmonton, Alberta-based Capital Power were up 13 Canadian cents at C$22.94 on the Toronto Stock Exchange at midday on Wednesday.
