SINGAPORE, June 30 (Reuters) - Mapletree Investments, a real estate firm wholly owned by Singapore state investor Temasek [TEM.UL], said on Wednesday it hopes to raise S$1 billion ($713.3 million) from an industrial REIT initial public offering.

The industrial REIT portfolio will contain only Singapore properties and initially have a value of S$1.7 billion. But the valuation could expand as Mapletree could inject other Singapore assets into the REIT, Phua Kok Kim, CEO for industrial properties, told reporters.

He said the portfolio was sharia compliant, which will help attract investors from the Middle East.

"From what we hear from potential investors..they believe if that we can do a sizeable offering, this will address liquidity issues any investors may have from day one," said chief financial officer Wong Mun Hoong. (Reporting by Charmian Kok and Kevin Lim; Editing by Raju Gopalakrishnan)
