US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St falls further on job losses

NEW YORK, July 2 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended losses on Friday, with large declines in banking and consumer shares, after government data showed the U.S. economy shed jobs in June for the first time this year.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI dropped 81.62 points, or 0.84 percent, to 9,650.91. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX fell 7.24 points, or 0.70 percent, to 1,020.13. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC lost 15.27 points, or 0.73 percent, to 2,086.09.
