NEW YORK (Reuters) - The St. Louis Blues signed newly acquired Slovakian goaltender Jaroslav Halak to a four-year contract, the team said on Tuesday.

Halak, who played a key role in the Montreal Canadiens' unexpected run to the National Hockey League's Eastern Conference finals in May, was traded to St. Louis last month for two forwards.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Last season, the 25-year-old Halak had a 26-13-5 record, 2.40 goals against average and was fourth in save percentages.

At one point during a first-round playoff win over the top-seeded Washington Capitals, Halak won three straight games by stopping 131 of 134 shots.
