TOKYO, July 8 (Reuters) - Japan's current account surplus
fell 8.1 percent in May from a year earlier, Ministry of Finance
data showed on Thursday, contrasting with the median market
forecast for a 1.3 percent increase. [JPCURA=ECI]
The decline came after 88 percent growth in the previous
month in a sign of moderating rebounds in exports and income from
investment returns. This was the first fall in 10 months.
The surplus stood at 1.2053 trillion yen ($13.73 billion),
against a median forecast for 1.3282 trillion yen.
