UPDATE 1-Crombie plans to buy 11 retail properties from Sobeys

* To fund acquisition by raising about C$50 mln

* Says 8 properties in Western Canada, 2 in Ontario

July 8 (Reuters) - Crombie Real Estate Investment Trust (CRR_u.TO) said it planned to acquire 11 retail properties worth C$102 million from Sobeys, a unit of Empire Co Ltd (EMPa.TO), to boost its presence in Western Canada and Ontario.

The company said eight properties are located in Western Canada, two in Ontario and one in Atlantic Canada.

The company expects to partly fund the acquisition by raising C$29.5 million through a bought deal, by offering 2.67 units at C$11.05 each.

The company also said Empire Co will subscribe for 1.85 million exchangeable units at $11.05 each for an additional $20.5 million.
