Marubeni, Sinopec jointly seek $1 bln deals -media

BEIJING, July 14 (Reuters) - China's Sinopec Group and Japan's Marubeni Corp (8002.T) will work together to seek contracts worth over $1 billion in the next five years to build refineries and petrochemical plants, Chinese media said.

Sinopec Engineering Incorporation (SEI) and the Japanese firm aimed to secure the deals in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, the International Business Daily reported, citing Chinese embassy officials in Japan.

SEI, Sinopec's engineering unit, recently entered energy infrastructure contracts in Iran and Saudi Arabia, the report said, without giving further details.

Sinopec Group is parent of Sinopec Corp (0386.HK).
