LONDON, July 19 (Reuters) - Armajaro is a London-based global commodities and financial services group that traders and some UK newspapers suggest is holding a large amount of world cocoa stocks, causing concerns of a supply crunch in September. [ID:nLDE66H06M]
The firm, which was founded by Anthony Ward and Richard Gower in 1998, has declined to comment.
The following are some of its main activities:
ASSET MANAGEMENT
The asset management part of the business includes five hedge funds:
Armajaro Commodities Fund which invests in the main commodity sectors.
CC+ Fund which focuses on cocoa and coffee.
CZAR+ Fund which focuses on sugar, biofuels and biofuel feedstocks.
Armajaro STS Commodities Fund, which is a trend-following commodity fund.
Armajaro Emerging Markets Fund which invests in emerging market equities, derivatives and fixed income with a macro focus.
COMMODITIES
Armajaro's sourcing operation is one of Europe's top three cocoa traders by volumes. It is also a major supplier of coffee.
The firm has sourcing and exporting operations in major cocoa growing regions and provides cocoa to most of the major global chocolate manufacturers.
In 2008 the company launched a sugar division focused on importing sugar to Africa and the Middle East.
ARMAJARO SECURITIES
Armajaro Securities provides bespoke financial instruments.
WINE
Armajaro also owns and farms a wine estate in South Africa.
