UPDATE 1-MS private wealth management gets new US chief

NEW YORK, July 19 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley Smith Barney on Monday said Douglas Ketterer will run Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in the United States.

Ketterer previously served as chief operating officer of wealth management for the United States at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, a joint venture between Morgan Stanley (MS.N) and Citigroup (C.N).

He will oversee 300 private wealth advisers in 11 offices, who advise clients with at least $20 million in investable assets. He will report to Andy Saperstein, the head of wealth management in the United States.

Ketterer has spent 20 years at Morgan Stanley, the company said.

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney also appointed James Tracy as chief operating officer of distribution and development for wealth management in the United States on Monday.
