UPDATE 1-AptarGroup Q2 results beat Wall Street estimates

July 20 (Reuters) - Cosmetics and perfume-dispenser maker AptarGroup Inc (ATR.N) posted better-than-expected quarterly results, helped by strong demand from the fragrance, cosmetic, and personal care markets.

The company forecast third-quarter earnings of 61 cents to 66 cents a share. Analysts on average were expecting 61 cents, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

For the second quarter, net income was $46.7 million, or 67 cents a share, compared with $28.5 million, or 41 cents a share, a year ago.

Sales rose 19 percent to $522.9 million. Beauty and home product sales rose 23 percent.

Analysts on average expected earnings of 63 cents a share, before special items, on revenue of $493.9 million.

The company raised its quarterly dividend by 20 percent to 18 cents per share.

Shares of the company closed at $40.26 Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Divya Sharma in Bangalore )
