Mexico's Telmex posts 2nd-qtr profit 3.6 bln pesos

MEXICO CITY, July 20 (Reuters) - Telmex, Mexico's dominant fixed-line phone operator, on Tuesday posted a 40 percent decline in second-quarter net profit from a year earlier, underperforming analysts' expectations.

Telmex TMX.N(TELMEXL.MX), controlled by billionaire Carlos Slim's America Movil (AMXL.MX), said its net profit in the April-June period was 3.6 billion pesos ($278 million). ($1 = 12.94 at end June) (Reporting by Noel Randewich and Jason Lange)
