FACTBOX-Wall St waged costly lobbying battle on reform
July 21 |
July 21 (Reuters) - Wall Street and its financial allies waged a fierce and costly lobbying battle aimed at derailing or diluting the financial reform legislation that Congress finally enacted this month.
Following is a list of top Wall Street firms and financial trade associations and their lobby spending during the second quarter, which covers most of the debate that led the Senate to approve its version of financial reform legislation in June.
That vote was followed by a final bill that both the House of Representatives and the Senate have approved and sent to President Barack Obama, who is due to sign it into law on Wednesday.
The figures below come from lobby disclosure documents filed with the Senate. ______________________________________________________________
