MEXICO CITY, July 22 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks extended early gains on Thursday after U.S. existing home sales fell less sharply than expected in June, offering some respite from a string of weak U.S. economic data.

The IPC stock index .MXX rose to 1 percent 32,431, boosted by a 1.3 percent gain in America Movil (AMXL.MX) ahead of its quarterly earnings report later in the session. Miner Grupo Mexico (GMEXICOB.MX) added 1.22 percent. (Reporting by Michael O'Boyle; editing by Jeffrey Benkoe)
