UPDATE 1-Thomas & Betts Q2 earnings rise

* Raises lower end of 2010 EPS view

July 22 (Reuters) - Electrical components maker Thomas & Betts Corp TNB.N reported a rise in quarterly earnings, helped by increased demand for its electrical products, and raised the lower end of its full-year earnings outlook.

For the second quarter, the company earned $33.6 million, or 63 cents a share, compared with earnings of $22.7 million, or 43 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

Excluding a pretax charge, it earned 69 cents a share.

Revenue rose about 12 percent to $514.6 million.

Analysts on average had expected earnings of 63 cents a share, on revenue of $494.5 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

The company narrowed its 2010 earnings view to between $2.50 and $2.65 per share, from its prior view of $2.25 to $2.65 a share. Analysts were expecting earnings of $2.61 a share.
