MEXICO CITY, July 26 (Reuters) - Mexican homebuilder Urbi posted a 5 percent year-on-year increase in second-quarter net profit as it sold more homes and boosted its revenue, the company said in a stock market filing on Monday.

Mexicali-based Urbi (URBI.MX) earned 432 million pesos ($33 million) in the April-June period, compared with 413 million pesos in the year-earlier quarter.

Quarterly revenue came in at 3.35 billion pesos, up 9 percent from a year earlier.

Urbi said it sold 8,517 homes in the second quarter, up 28 percent year over year. The company said it sold 60 percent more entry-level houses during the quarter.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization fell 0.77 percent year over year to 894 million pesos. ($1 = 12.94 pesos as of end-June) (Reporting by Noel Randewich; Editing by Andre Grenon and Steve Orlofsky)
