July 27 (Reuters) - Design-software maker Parametric Technology Corp (PMTC.O) posted better-than-expected quarterly results as license sales jumped 37 percent, but forecast a weak fourth quarter.
The company said it expected combined maintenance and services revenue to be flat in the fourth quarter.
For the current quarter, the company expects to earn 30 cents to 32 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $255 million to $265 million.
Analysts on average were expecting a profit of 35 cents a share, on revenue of $268.3 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
For the third quarter, the company's net income surged almost more than two-and-a-half times to $10.7 million, or 9 cents a share.
Excluding exceptional items, the company earned 21 cents, beating expectations of 19 cents a share.
Revenue rose 7 percent to $243 million. Analysts were expecting revenue of $237.6 million. [ID:nASA00KD7]
