Southern Copper says 2nd-qtr rose to $271.6 mln

LIMA, July 27 (Reuters) - Southern Copper (SPC.LM) (SCCO.N) posted second-quarter net profit on Tuesday of 271.6 million, higher than $140.6 million in the same period a year ago as metals prices improved.

The unit of Grupo Mexico (GMEXICOB.MX) did not comment on a proposed merger with its sister company Asarco. (Reporting by Patricia Velez; Editing by Terry Wade)
