TOKYO, July 27 (Reuters) - Yahoo Japan Corp (4689.T), Japan's largest Internet portal site, will likely adopt Google Inc's (GOOG.O) search engine as part of an alliance between the two companies, media reported.

Google is working on a deal to grab the algorithmic search business for Yahoo Japan, technology blog All Things Digital reported.

The Nikkei business daily also said Yahoo Japan would likely switch its search engine to Google's from U.S.-based Yahoo Inc's (YHOO.O) engine. Yahoo Inc owns a little over a third in Yahoo Japan.

Yahoo Japan spokesman Toru Nagano said the firm is considering switching its search engine but delined to say whether Google was an option.

Yahoo Japan is scheduled to announce its quarterly earnings after the Tokyo close on Tuesday. (Reporting by Nobuhiro Kubo)
