UPDATE 1-AT&T says placed on S&P rating watch negative

SEATTLE, July 27 | Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:17pm EDT

SEATTLE, July 27 (Reuters) - AT&T Inc (T.N) said on Tuesday that rating agency Standard & Poor's had placed it on credit watch negative, signaling a potential downgrade from its current "A" credit rating.

The No. 2 U.S. mobile provider forecast strong earnings per share growth for the full-year 2010 last week, but some concerns persist that it will eventually lose exclusive rights to provide service for Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) iPhone.
