NASCAR, DirecTV sign up for "Undercover Boss" TV show

LOS ANGELES | Wed Jul 28, 2010 1:53pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Top executives from NASCAR, DirecTV, Chiquita Brands International and waterparks company Great Wolf Resorts will take part in the second season of reality TV hit "Undercover Boss", CBS said on Wednesday.

The show, which secretly sends executives from the boardroom to the front-lines of their own businesses, was the top new series of the 2009-10 U.S. television season with an average 17.7 million viewers.

The first season featured bosses from Waste Management, restaurant chain Hooters and convenience chain 7-Eleven among others and has been nominated for a reality TV show Emmy award.

Creator Stephen Lambert said the new batch of companies volunteering for the undercover journey "are some of the best-known brands in corporate America and clearly -- with the likes of NASCAR, Chiquita, DirecTV and Great Wolf Resorts -- we've got an interesting blend of industries."

Other companies taking part in the new series will be announced at a later date. "Undercover Boss" returns to TV on September 26.
