Avon posts higher profit as beauty sales rise

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Cosmetics and perfume company Avon Products Inc (AVP.N) reported higher second-quarter earnings on Thursday as beauty care sales increased.
Avon, whose product lines include makeup, lotions and jewelry, reported earnings of $169.2 million, or 39 cents per share, compared with $84.6 million, or 19 cents per share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 8 percent to $2.68 billion from $2.48 billion.
