Japan Arai: no comment on inflation target

TOKYO, July 30 (Reuters) - Japanese Economics Minister Satoshi Arai on Friday declined to comment on whether the Bank of Japan should adopt an inflation target.
"I should not comment on an inflation targeting policy as it is a monetary policy," Arai, also national strategy minister, told a news conference after a cabinet meeting.
He also said that Japan's fight against deflation has made progress thanks to cooperation between the government and the central bank. (Reporting by Rie Ishiguro)
