WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two foreign units of tobacco leaf company Alliance One International Inc pleaded guilty on Friday to violating U.S. anti-corruption laws related to bribes paid to foreign government officials to win contracts, the U.S. Justice Department said.

The two units agreed to pay $9.45 million in fines collectively.

The Justice Department also said it had reached a plea deal with the Brazilian unit of Universal Corp over charges related to bribes paid to Thai officials for the sale of Brazilian tobacco.

That unit agreed to pay a $4.4 million criminal fine.
