KANDAHAR (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1100 GMT on Saturday.

BADAKHSHAN - Eight foreign medical workers, including six Americans, a Briton and a German, were killed by gunmen in the remote northeastern district of Badakshan, aid and police officials said. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the killings and accused International Assistance Mission (IAM) eye care team of proselytizing Christianity. IAM executive director Dirk Frans said four Afghans were also in the 12-member team, two of whom escaped alive.

HELMAND - Four Afghan policemen and one civilian were killed when explosives hidden in a handcart were detonated in the Nahr Saraj district of southern Helmand district, the Interior Ministry said. Twelve civilians and another policeman were wounded.

KANDAHAR - One child was killed and another seriously wounded in a roadside bomb attack in southern Kandahar province, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement.
