HOUSTON | Tue Aug 10, 2010 6:19pm EDT

HOUSTON Aug 10 (Reuters) - Texas set a second all-time electric use record on Tuesday afternoon as above-normal temperatures boosted demand for air conditioning, according to initial data from the state grid operator.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) said power use at the hour ending at 5 p.m. CDT (2200 GMT), was 63,830 megawatts, surpassing the peak record or 63,594 MW set last week.
