Telecom Egypt Q2 net profit up 23 percent

CAIRO Aug 12 (Reuters) - Landline monopoly Telecom Egypt (ETEL.CA) posted a second quarter profit of 971 million Egyptian pounds ($171 million) on Thursday, up 23 percent from last year and above the consensus estimate of 820.6 million pounds.

The firm had revenue of 2.71 billion pounds and earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) before provisions of 1.4 billion pounds. It said it had 9.4 million fixed-line subscribers at end-June. (Reporting by Alexander Dziadosz)
