NEW YORK Aug 17 (Reuters) - Medical device company Stryker Corp (SYK.N) is in advanced talks to buy Boston Scientific Corp's (BSX.N) pain-management device unit for about $1.5 billion, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.

Stryker, which makes artificial hips and knees, and medical device maker Boston Scientific, have not reached a final agreement and talks could collapse, the report said.

Boston Scientific put two units up for sale earlier this year. A deal for the the neurovascular products unit is several weeks away and could fetch about $1 billion, Bloomberg said.
