Aug 17 (Reuters) - Canadian miner Imperial Metals Corp (III.TO) said operations at its Huckleberry mine in northern British Columbia were temporarily suspended on Monday due to wildfires in the area.

The mine workforce has been reduced to a maintenance crew only, the company said in a statement.

The wildfires, which are about 50 kilometers from the plant site, have put the access road and power line to the mine at risk, the company added.

Imperial Metals, which recently reported a narrower first-quarter loss, has a 50 percent stake in the Huckleberry open pit copper and molybdenum mine.

Shares of the company, which have quadrupled in value in the last one year, fell about 3 percent to C$15.88 Tuesday afternoon on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Bhaswati Mukhopadhyay in Bangalore; Editing by Anne Pallivathuckal)
