JAKARTA Aug 18 (Reuters) - Indonesia, the world's top thermal coal exporter, will be able to meet its 2010 production target of 254 million tonnes of coal despite unseasonally heavy rains, a government official said on Wednesday.

"We are convinced that coal production will be on track, meeting the state budget forecast of 254 million tonnes despite heavy rains in the first half," said Bambang Gatot Aryono, director of coal and minerals at the energy and mines ministry.

"The weather will be better in second semester so we can achieve the production target," he said. (For a Q+A on the impact of the rains, click [ID:nJAK497065]) (Reporting by Janeman Latul and Fathiya Darul; Editing by Sara Webb)
