Aug 24 (Reuters) - Electrical engineer Spectris Plc (SXS.L) posted a more than three-fold increase in first-half adjusted pretax profit, helped by cost benefits from restructuring in 2009 and improved demand.
Spectris, whose products have helped reduce noise made by Japan's Bullet Train, raised dividend by 11 percent to 7.1 pence per share.
"Whilst the macro-economic outlook remains uncertain, in the near term we expect to continue to make good progress and deliver results for the full year in line with the board's expectations," Chairman John Hughes said in a statement.
January-June adjusted pretax profit was 44.7 million pounds ($69.30 million), compared with 14.3 million pounds a year ago.
Sales rose 9 percent to 405.1 million pounds.
Shares of the company, which have risen 50 percent over the last 52 weeks, closed at 910.50 pence on Monday on the London Stock Exchange. ($1=.6450 Pound) (Reporting by Shivani Singh in Bangalore; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
