Fortescue yr profit up 14 pct on higher shipments

SYDNEY Aug 26 (Reuters) - Australia's no. 3 iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group (FMG.AX) on Thursday reported a 14 percent rise in fiscal 2009/10 net profit to $581 million versus the previous year.
Fortescue also said it lifted iron ore shipments 44 percent over the period to 40. 1 million tonnes. (Reporting by James Regan; Editing by Ed Davies)
