HONG KONG Aug 27 (Reuters) - China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd (1088.HK), the world's most valuable coal producer, said on Friday its second-quarter profit rose 11.7 percent as higher coal sales more than offset rising costs.

April-June net profit reached a record quarterly 10.03 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) versus 8.98 billion a year earlier, the company said in a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange.

The result was broadly in line with an average forecast of 10.2 billion yuan from three analysts polled by Reuters.

Shenhua (601088.SS), China's biggest coal producer, is highly exposed to electricity demand in the world's second-largest economy, which is set for a slowdown in power demand growth in the second half as Beijing makes efforts to curb emissions and cool the racing economy.
