KOREA ECONOMIC DAILY

Samsung Electronics' (005930.KS) smartphone Galaxy S recorded 900,000 subscribers as of Aug 27 since its launch in June, according to industry sources, surpassing sales of Apple's iPhone in the Korean market. The company has also sold 1 million Galaxy S phones in the United States.

MAEIL BUSINESS NEWSPAPER

South Korean energy developer Daewoo International (047050.KS) set up a joint venture with state-run Korea Minting & Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) to take over Uzbek firm Kogozi, which supplies cotton cellulose to make bills, said Daewoo sources.

LG Group will hire 7,300 new employees in the second half to add a total of 15,000 this year, said a company source on Sunday.
