Macquarie Capital hires new head of India ECM

MUMBAI Aug 30 (Reuters) - Macquarie Capital, a unit of Australia's nvestment bank Macquarie Bank (MQG.AX), said on Monday it hired an executive from financial services firm Edelweiss Capital (EDEL.BO) to head its India equity capital markets business.

Macquarie has hired Sanjay Agarwal to head its share sale business in India, the bank said in a statement.

Agarwal's appointment follows similar moves by global banks such as Goldman Sachs (GS.N), UBS (UBSN.VX), Standard Chartered (STAN.L), Citigroup (C.N) and Credit Suisse (CSGN.VX) to bolster their presence in Asia's third-largest economy.
