JAL says to retire 103 planes, scrap 49 flights

TOKYO Aug 31 (Reuters) - Japan Airlines Corp, a debt-ridden carrier undergoing state-backed rehabilitation, said it will retire 103 aircraft and scrap 10 international and 39 domestic routes under its turnaround plan submitted to Tokyo District Court on Tuesday.

JAL, which filed for bankruptcy protection in January owing more than $25 billion, also said it will target an operating profit margin of 9.2 percent by March 2013. (Reporting by Mariko Katsumura; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
