LONDON Aug 31 (Reuters) - The dollar fell to a 7-month low versus the Swiss franc on Tuesday as a plunge in risk sentiment prompted investors to seek the safe-haven status of the Swiss currency.

The dollar fell to 1.0204 francs according to Reuters data, its lowest level since January 15. The franc was broadly stronger, also extending an all-time high versus the euro EURCHF= to 1.2914 francs.

Traders said a large dollar/Swiss option barrier at 1.0200 francs was being defended, potentially limiting further Swiss gains on the day.
