CANADA STOCKS-TSX jumps to 10-wk high on recovery optimism

TORONTO, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index surged to its highest level in just over 10 weeks on Wednesday as U.S. and overseas economic data fueled optimism about a global recovery.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially ended up 89.92 points, or 0.75 percent, at 12,003.78. Earlier in the session, the resource-heavy index hit 12,016.06, its strongest level since June 21. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Rob Wilson)
