Taiwan stocks rebound; Quanta falls after results
TAIPEI, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Taiwan stocks rose 0.68 percent on
Wednesday as investors sought bargains after the previous day's
fall, but Quanta Computer (2382.TW) shares fell after it reported
weaker than expected quarterly earnings.
The main TAIEX share index .TWII closed up 51.97 points at 7,668.25, following a 1.6 percent fall on Tuesday. A modest rise in China's purchasing managers' index (PMI) [ID:nBJB003928] helped lend strength to China plays.
Quanta shares shed 6.5 percent as the company also flagged a weak third quarter amid uncertainties in the European and U.S. markets. [ID:nTOE67T03Y] (US$1=T$32) (Reporting by Baker Li; Editing by Jonathan Standing)
